Mistawasis Nêhiyawak high school

Size: 13,832 ft2   Timeline: 20 weeks   Year: 2018

Mistawasis First Nation had been bussing their kids to a nearby public school for decades. Leadership and the community wanted to bring their kids back home. Mistawasis approached 3twenty to do a full design-build on a new school. A contract was signed on May 31, 2018 and a school was turned over and occupied in October 2018.

It was important to Chief and Council that there were no compromises in design or performance for the students that would attend. The building truly looks like and acts like a site-built school.

  • Built from seven 26’ x 76’ steel framed modular structures.

  • Key priorities included no compromise in function and architectural design.

  • Special attention to making sure the building looked and performed like a site built building.

  • Equipped with 4 classrooms, science room, resource room, full commercial kitchen and cafeteria/multi-purpose room, administration centre, and additional office/flex space.
