Project Summary
Buffalo River Dene Nation is a community located approximately 550 km north of Saskatoon. When the community mandated Chief and Council to build a new daycare facility, the “Head Start”, they approached 3twenty to provide a design-build. They knew that by engaging in a traditional site-build approach, they would not be able to open in time. 3twenty had the perfect solution.
Our design team met with Councillors and consulted with the Head Start staff, and developed a plan that would suit the community’s needs and budget. The community was familiar with the concept of an RTM home, but was curious to see how our prefab approach would compare. Chief and Council were excited about the building’s steel floor structure and high-quality commercial building materials used throughout. The building included a large millwork package, which allowed the Head Start staff to open up shortly after the building was delivered and installed.
