Project Summary
Muskoday Chief and Council, in collaboration with the Muskoday Economic Development Authority (MEDA) had been planning to open a new store and gas bar for several years. However, they recognized the importance of finding the right partner to bring their vision to life. For MEDA, the store plays a crucial role in the community, serving as both an employment driver—employing a total of 20 community members— and setting the tone for future projects.
The store’s high-performance features including a R90 roof and R42 walls along with a highly efficient heat pump and ability to accommodate a small solar array mean that it will produce as much energy as it consumes over a 12-month period. The spacious retail area, equipped with extensive cooler and freezer space, a coffee bar, post office, and future franchise space, allows community members to purchase convenience items locally, eliminating the need to travel to nearby communities.
