Project Summary
Muskoday Chief and Council, in collaboration with the Muskoday Economic Development Authority (MEDA), spent several years planning a new store and gas bar. During this time, they recognized the importance of finding the right partner to bring their vision to life. For MEDA, the Muskoday Store and Gas Bar plays a vital role in the community. It serves as an employment driver by creating 20 jobs for community members and helps set the tone for future development projects.
The store features several high-performance design elements. These include an R90 roof, R42 walls, and a highly efficient heat pump. The building can also accommodate a small solar array. Together, these features allow the store to produce as much energy as it consumes over a 12-month period.
Inside, the spacious retail area includes extensive cooler and freezer space, a coffee bar, and a post office. The design also allows for future franchise space. As a result, community members can purchase convenience items locally and avoid traveling to nearby communities.
