WHITE buffalo treatment centre
Size: 7,104 ft2 Timeline: 16 weeks Year: 2018
The White Buffalo Treatment Centre was previously based at Sturgeon Lake First Nation, and had to relocate to a new facility. Given the special requirements of a treatment centre, it was impossible for management to find an existing building to utilize. After seeing the work we did with school divisions, they approached 3twenty to do a full design-build-install of this project.
We worked with the owner to evaluate the needs of staff and their clients, and produced a design and spec that fulfilled their requirements. There were many unique design requirements to accommodate clients’ healing needs.
Built from four 26’ x 76’ steel framed modular structures.
Key priorities making the space fun, welcoming, functional and safe for the clients.
Integrated a boiler system to handle the building’s mechanical needs.
Special consideration given to access control and security.
Equipped with dorm facilities, administration centre, observation room, smudge room, classroom, living space, commercial kitchen and dining facility.
