Illness & Injury
Sick Days
Hourly employees are entitled to 12 unpaid sick days per calendar year. Sick day requests must be submitted in Collage for tracking purposes, and employees must notify their supervisor as early as possible on the day of their absence.
All sick day requests will be reviewed and approved by the Operations Manager and People Strategy Lead. Employees are expected to provide as much advance notice as possible prior to their scheduled shift. Sick day requests will always be granted; however, concerns regarding potential misuse of sick time may result in a discussion with the employee and may result in the disciplinary procedure being initiated.
Sick Notes
3twenty may request a sick note from a doctor after five (5) consecutive working days or if the employee has been absent twice for two or more days in the preceding 12 months. Any costs associated with obtaining sick notes will be the responsibility of the employee to pay.
If 3twenty requests that an employee have their doctor complete a medical ability-to-work form to assist with the accommodation process, 3twenty will reimburse the employee up to $50. Employees must follow the expense reimbursement process and submit all applicable receipts.
Failure to provide the required doctor’s notes within the timeframe provided may result in progression to the next step of the disciplinary process, up to and including termination.
Physical copies of the doctor’s notes and medical ability-to-work forms must be provided to the People Strategy Lead on the day the employee returns to work, or earlier if available.
Short-term Disability and Long-term Disability
Our benefits plan includes a Weekly Indemnity (Short-term Disability) or Long-term Disability (LTD) plan, which provides income replacement if you are unable to work due to an accident or illness. Employees must apply for STD or LTD benefits, subject to the plan’s rules and regulations, if they are eligible. Please contact the People Strategy Lead if you believe you may be eligible for Weekly Indemnity or Long-term disability.
Workers’ Compensation Board
The Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) will determine an employee’s eligibility for earnings loss benefits if they are unable to work due to a workplace injury. 3twenty will provide employees with their full day’s pay on the day of the injury. WCB is responsible for administering any earnings loss benefits starting on the first scheduled shift following the day of injury. For further details on reporting workplace safety incidents, please refer to the Safety Manual. If additional support is needed, please contact the Safety Lead.
