3twenty gave the Headstart a fresh, colourful, and fun look when the community needed to rebuild after a devastating fire.

Project Summary

On December 2, 2019, a devastating fire destroyed the Cumberland House Cree Nation Band Office. The fire also claimed the Headstart facility. When Chief and Council promised the community they would rebuild, the Headstart program remained a key part of that commitment. By working closely with the Cumberland House Headstart Executive Director, 3twenty brought a design to life that supports program needs within a beautiful and welcoming new space.

The new Cumberland House Headstart daycare stands alone as a 4,831-square-foot facility. The space serves infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. It also includes an integrated kitchen to prepare and serve meals for the kids. Throughout the facility, soft and playful colours create a warm and comforting environment. This unique build was designed specifically for childcare needs. As a result, it provides a space where current and future community members can learn and grow.

Special consideration for fire ratings throughout, including a fire rated wall assemblies between infant areas and other spaces.

Design, supply and install of all millwork to create a turnkey space for the childcare operators.
