Project Summary
Iskwiw-Awasis Waskaykan in Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation provides women and children with a safe, supportive space. Here, they can seek refuge, healing, and essential services close to home.
This 8,685-square-foot Women’s Shelter includes multiple two and four bed living quarters. It also includes barrier-free units to support accessible and inclusive accommodations.
Shared spaces support both daily living and programming. These include a staff kitchen with a pass-through window and a shared dining area. The shelter also includes gathering spaces designed to encourage comfort and connection.
In addition, the facility features a dedicated cultural room and a childcare/play room. There are also multiple offices to support staff and client services. Together, these spaces create a safe and functional environment where women and children can rebuild, access resources, and move forward with support.
