Modular Building Solutions sought out 3twenty to partner on this important emergency shelter project in Keeseekoowenin Ojibway First Nation which will serve nine Indigenous communities in southwest Manitoba.

Project Summary

This women’s shelter project in Keeseekoowenin Ojibway First Nation provides women and children with a safe place to seek refuge from abusive situations. The shelter allows families to access support close to home, without the need to travel long distances for help. In addition, women and children from surrounding communities can access the shelter and its culturally appropriate healing programs. These programs support families working to overcome violence and other challenges that affect the well-being of the home.

3twenty delivered this project in partnership with Modular Building Solutions of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The 8,728-square-foot Women’s Shelter includes multiple living quarters and a large common room. It also features a cultural room, a childcare and playroom, a full kitchen and dining area, and several offices. The name Migiziwazison means “bald eagle’s nest.” A vibrant mural in the north corridor reflects this meaning and serves as a central design feature.
