Project Summary

Three medical professionals came together with a plan to build a new multi-disciplinary medical facility, now known as the Sask Valley Health Care Centre (SVHCC). Each had a long history of practicing in Rosthern. They believed that bringing their services together in one facility would allow them to better serve the community.

In 2017, the ownership group pursued a conventional approach to the project. They hired an architect who developed a strong space program and an initial design. From there, the team sought pre-construction pricing. When the first estimates came in, the group realized the numbers would not work. As the project neared collapse, their banker recommended they contact 3twenty.

From the first meeting with Dr. Kirk Ewen, Dr. Jess Melle, and Kevin Melnyk, their passion for Rosthern was clear. They shared a vision for a bright, modern space that would welcome patients and help attract and retain medical professionals. The original architect provided a solid initial design. Working closely with the SVHCC group, 3twenty focused on driving value into the project. The team simplified mechanical requirements while maintaining the vision for a beautiful, modern facility.

After several design revisions and pricing exercises, construction began in January 2020. In August 2020, the team proudly turned the completed building over to the SVHCC ownership group.

The facility includes five connected yet distinct spaces. These include Doctors Vision Care, Sask Valley Pharmacy, Rosthern Medical Clinic, a mixed-use medical wing, and a welcoming shared waiting area. Throughout the process, the SVHCC group carefully planned every detail with the design team. As a result, the spaces are both highly functional and thoughtfully designed. Inside and out, the building features architectural details that enhance the experience for patients and providers alike.
